Side effects of Sustanon 250 vary to include those directly associated with the increase of testosterone in your system as well as secondary and tertiary reactions that are more challenging to control and account for. We take a look at all the negative side effects.
When considering side effects, understand that testosterone is not in and of itself something that is harmful. All people have some level of existing testosterone, with men having levels far higher on average than women. What this means is that a lot of the effects will not be as dramatic. What it also means is that we should be looking for a negative change.
Sustanon 250, like any other chemical or hormone that enters our bodies, can change our experience and result in a change that is both positive and negative. Some of the negative can be short-term and nasty. What you should be aware of is that like with any chemical (especially anabolic steroids), the more you take the more severe the side effects are going to be. So, if you end up abusing Sustanon, expect your side effects to be worse and more pronounced than if you took the recommended dosage. Depending on your unique physiology, you may experience moderate side effects at the recommended dosage. If this is the case, then you should consider cutting your dosage to something more tolerable for your body. A final thing worth considering is the interaction of Sustanon 250 with other supplements or drugs that you are taking. A bad reaction can cause side effects. Below we go into more detail on these points and more.
- Side Effects: Estrogenic
Sustanon 250 is a testosterone compound. What this means is that it will react in your system many of the same ways of other steroids. For example, if there is too much testosterone based steroids in your system, then you risk having the testosterone via the aromatase enzyme convert into estrogen. Among Sustanon 250, estrogenic side effects may be your biggest concern. The last thing you want is to work to beef up, only to have the opposite of this happen. Below are some side effects that can be caused by estrogenic effects.
- Water Retention
Estrogen causes our muscles to hold more extracellular and intracellular water. In particular this is caused when testosterone interacts with the aromatase enzyme and forms estrogen. Excessive levels of estrogen will cause the body to retain not only water, but sodium as well. This risks changing your electrolyte levels in your body. Countering the water retention issues can be done with an aromatase inhibitor (AI). The AI prevents aromatase to do its job, decreasing the chances of water retention in your body. A typical level of an AI drug would be around 10mg a day or 5mg taken twice a day. In addition, you can help to reduce water retention through a low sodium and cardio diet.
The dreaded gynecomastia is when breast tissue begins to grow in and around the nipple. With enough estrogen, full-blown breasts can appear. What you will need to do is reduce your estrogen levels as much as possible to stop this affect from occuring. Thankfully, gynecomastia is rather simple to control. For example, you can use the AI discussed in part I to prevent Gynecomastia. Having gynecomastia prevention in place is a great idea because the affects of estrogen and gynecomastia are permanent and cannot be reversed without surgery.
Instead of blocking the circulation of estrogen in the system, you can also target the receptors in control of developing breast tissue. This can be done through taking a drug called SERM or Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators. SERM is responsible for blocking action at breast tissue growth sites. The benefit of such a drug speaks for itself and is a great alternative if you are having issues with AI. If you are interested in using SERM, then consider about 10mg a day or 5mg twice a day. Be aware that AI is far easier to acquire and typically less expensive.
Also known as high blood pressure, hypertension is common among anabolic steroid users. The effects of hypertension increase the more frequently and higher doses you use. Why does hypertension occur? Well, it all has to do with sodium build up in your body. The sodium retention rates can be controlled by specifically targeting your diet and switching to low sodium diets. You can also control this effect with the use of AI at levels already suggested. In addition, Anastrozole (also known as Arimidex) at .5mg every other day can have the same effects.
No one like acne. The higher your estrogen levels, the greater the chance that acne will occur. In addition, the fluctuation of your hormone levels will also cause acne to occur. DHT can also cause acne along with estrogen. Also known as Dihydrotestosterone, DHT is converted from excess testosterone and along with causing acne, can also cause things like hair loss. We will get into this below. AI will help you to stop acne from occuring. You may also want to consider things like Accutane at 10-20mg a day in order to help prevent acne build up. Be aware that your liver and kidneys will have to be watched to prevent potential issues from developing.
- Hair Loss
If you have a predisposition to losing hair, than your chance at hair loss is increased as a side effect of Sustanon 250. As we mentioned in part IV, hair loss is a result of excessive DHT, which in turn comes from having more than the recommended level of testosterone in your system. DHT is a challenging side effect to control for because while it causes hair loss, it also causes a number of positive things that can be beneficial. For example, it can increase your sex drive, cognitive functioning, and strength. Things like Finastride or Dutastride can lower the levels of DHT in the system. It will decrease the chance of hair loss.
- Enlarged Prostate
Another issue worth considering is prostate enlargement. One of the dangerous side effects, an enlarged prostate is at increased risk of things like prostate cancer. Controlling DHT and 5-alpha inhibitors as we’ve seen with drugs like Finastride can help to control the effects of prostate enlargement.
- Side Effect: Cholesterol
While most people will pay attention to the estrogenic qualities of an anabolic steroid, there also some other side effects worth considering that are not directly related to estrogen or testosterone. In particular, Cholesterol is a side effect worth carefully measuring as you take Sustanon 250. LDL cholesterol generally increases while the good cholesterol HDL decreases. Because different steroids affect lipid values differently, your cholesterol levels may go. The potential cholesterol damage from Sustanon can be controlled a number of different ways. For example, diet and exercise can dramatically improve cholesterol levels.
Interested in knowing what foods are better for you if you want to keep your bad cholesterol levels down? Consider the following foods: coconut milk, avocado, eggs, fish, nuts, policosonal, coconut oil, EVOO, niacin, Red Yest Rice, Omega 3 caps, and CQ10. Finding something that works for you may take some trial and error.
A lot of people also try to handle their cholesterol level with the AI’s we discussed above. Know that Arimidex and Letrozole can both make the situation worse and should not be tried. Exemestrane has no impact. As it turns out, AI’s may not be the best way to go when it comes to cholesterol.
- Side Effect: HPTA
Also known as the hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis, or HPTA, Sustanon 250 can cause problems by inhibiting natural testosterone productions. It takes roughly 3-4 weeks to shut down the body’s natural production of testosterone. This happens any tome a testosterone derivative is introduced into the body. Be aware that Sustanon will cause a testosterone shut down for a period after its use. You may want to use human chorionic gonadotropin to help restore functionality and size after you are done taking Sustanon 250. Be aware that these issues are not that big of a concern as the body naturally rebounds. This is one reason however why those under 18 should not take Sustanon 250.
- Side Effect: In Women
Being both an androgenic and anabolic steroid, Sustanon 250 has a range of positive and negative effects for women. For example, it can lead to both temporary and permanent side effects if not used in correct levels. Having a physiology not designed around higher testosterone levels, virilization can occur with higher testosterone levels. Generally speaking, there are safer alternatives out there for women that do not result in any of the negative effects. In addition, there may be issues of things like increased acne, lipid problems, hair loss, water retention, and hypertension.
In any case, be sure to consult a doctor or medical professional if and when you experience these side effects. In addition, if you have any potential conflicts from other medications or are uncertain, be sure to seek the advice of a trained and educated individual.
